Selecting a Target Completion Date
At the top of your Dashboard page select the date you would like to have your hours completed (Target Completion Date). This date can be changed at any time. TYH validates the date that you enter and will reject an entry if: 1) the date does not allow a sufficient number of weeks for you to have 104 weeks of supervised experience (a BBS requirement); or 2) the date requires you to log on average more than 40 total hours per week (the BBS allows you to claim a maximum of 40 hours per week). Once you select a date the number of weeks remaining until that date will be displayed and a Weekly Target will be calculated for: 1) your total hours; 2) any category with a minimum requirement; and 3) any category with a maximum limit.
Understanding the Weekly Targets
The weekly target column displays the ideal number of hours that should be logged weekly in a given category in order for you to: 1) meet the total number of hours required; 2) meet the requirement for any categories that have minimums; and 3) avoid exceeding category maximums and losing hours. This calculation takes into consideration the hours you have already logged and is updated every time you log new hours. If the Weekly Target for your total hours is too high, just select a different Target Completion Date until the Weekly Target displays a number that you can realistically log each week.
Categories that have a minimum requirement
For categories with a minimum requirement, the weekly target shows you the minimum number of hours you should average each week in order to ensure that you have met the requirement by the time you reach your target completion date. Once you have met the requirement "Min Met" will be displayed.
Example: You have a requirement of logging a minimum of 500 hours in a category and you have already logged 300 hours in that category. You select a Target Completion Date that is 50 weeks from today. In this instance your Weekly Target would display “4 or more” for this category (200 hours remaining across 50 weeks = 4 hours per week). If you average 4 or more hours per week in this category you will meet or exceed the minimum requirement by your Target Completion Date. Logging more than 4 hours a week will result in the Weekly Target decreasing over time.
Categories that have a maximum
For categories with a maximum, the weekly target shows you the maximum number of hours you should average each week in order to avoid going over the category maximum. This allows you to better focus your training and avoid losing hours. Once you have hit the maximum in a category "Max Met" will be displayed.
Example: You have a category with a maximum of 500 hours and you have already logged 200 hours in the category. You select a Target Completion Date that is 50 weeks from today. Your Weekly Target would display “6 or less” for this category (300 hours remaining until you hit the max across 50 weeks = 6 hours per week). If you average 6 or fewer hours a week in this category you will avoid going over the category maximum by your Target Completion Date. Of course you can always go over a category maximum but doing so will result in the loss of precious hours.
