January 1, 2016 the experience requirements for LPCCs changed. Applicants who submit their application between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2020 have the option of being evaluated under the old or new experience requirements. As of January 1, 2021 the new requirements will apply to all applicants. Because the new requirements eliminate some of the individual category maximums there is no instance where choosing the old requirements would be beneficial. You will want to be evaluated under the new requirements.
The TrackYourHours software allows you to view an analysis of your hours under both the old and new requirements. When you login to your account you will see the "Dashboard 2016 Forward" tab. This summary analyzes your hours under the new requirements. Clicking the "Dashboard Old Requirements" tab shows an analysis of your hours under the old requirements. The new requirements may or may not result in an increase in the number of hours you can claim but they definitely will not result in a decrease. The impact depends on whether you have already maxed out categories that no longer have a maximum.
The message "Hi [First_Name]. You've completed X of 3,000 hours" displayed top-right of the page has been updated to display your valid hours under the NEW requirements.
Why didn't my valid (claimable) hours increase under the new requirements?
Your valid total will only increase under the new requirements if you have previously maxed out one or more of the sub-categories that no longer have a maximum (workshops, group therapy, telehealth, administering and evaluating psych tests, etc.). In addition, for the categories of workshops and evaluating psych tests, etc. you will only gain hours if you have not yet maxed out the Non-counseling Experience Category.
Why is TrackYourHours displaying both the old and new requirements?
The BBS is providing a phase-in which allows you to make a choice as to which set of requirements you want to be evaluated under if your application is submitted prior to January 1, 2021. As a result, we want to provide you with a summary of your hours under both sets of requirements. In all instances applicants will want to be evaluated under the NEW LPCC requirements.
